I recently bought a new computer with Windows 10 on it. I had it less than 24 hrs when I got the BSOD. I was in the middle of installing GTA 5 (store bought, legit copy) when it happened. I was only able to even get it to go the main Windows page 1 after that. Every other time it wouldn't even get that far. Safe mode even failed. I sent it back to iBuypower (where I bought it), They replaced the CPU, RAM, and finally the SSD drive reinstalling Windows. After each step, they tried it and still got the BSOD until replacing the SSD and Windows stopped it. My question is, can a game like that do all of that, or could it have been, more than likely, a faulty SSD or Windows? I get it back on Friday and want to know if it is safe to put GTA on it. I know the game it fine as I have had it on my current computer for about a year and it runs fine. I am new to Windows 10.
I am also aware that Rockstar says they do not support Windows 10, however, virtually all of the people I have spoken too who play, all have Windows 10. I also have never heard of it completely wrecking a computer. When there have been problems they are game crashings and infinite loading loops. If anyone needs event logs, I do have them.

Please help. As silly as it sounds, that game is really important to me.

:welcome:    cdgfanatic,

It is highly unlikely that your attempt to install GTA V damaged any hardware and the SSD was most likely flaky from the outset.

I am also aware that Rockstar says they do not support Windows 10

Not sure where you heard or read this but Rockstar only suggest minimum and recommended system specs for GTA V and there is no mention of not supporting Windows 10, see here Windows 10 is an upgrade that combines the best of Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 with a few new features added and there is no reason to suspect that GTA V will have a problem with it.

Trying to install another game (Berserk) completely crashed my Windows 10 and glitched it. The only way finally resolve it was to wipe and restore a purely fresh copy.

Pretty bad when none of the other Windows safeguards did anything at all.

That's what your problem reminds me of. But, as someone else mentioned; my computer was probably already teetering on the edge too, and that was just the final push. I really don't think PC games ruin computers.

hi
I play GTA 5 on Windows 10 and everything is fine. I think the problem is in the copy, I think you can write to the store and tell them about the problem.

Thanks for your input Tedy321 but being that the thread is more than four years old and the OP never even bothered to reply I suspect that they will not acknowledge your suggestion.
