Try starting the computer from your Windows 10 on USB thumbdrive, if you can, follow the Troubleshoot (Advanced Options) see tutorial from Windows 10 forums here

Please note that you should not use the recovery option unless you have backed up your data first, tis by either using the Windows repair option or the Puppy Linux suggestion in my reply #10.

I have successfully created a Bootable USB Recovery Drive in Windows 10.

The Thumb Drive is currently in the laptop I am using to communicate with you.

Could you kindly clarify what my next step (s) should be?

Should I now place my Thumb Drive into the laptop which is failing to restart properly?

Attached is an image of how the Bootable USB Recovery Drive appears in my Thumb Drive

Thank you

I have the Windows 10 Media Tool on  my Thumb Drive.

Could clarify what steps I am then to take to  check the Recovery Partition.

Thank you

You need to put this thumbdrive into the computer that has the problem and then restart the computer.

If you are having difficulty with any of this let us know or alternatively is there anyone close to hand that you can ask for additional support.

I placed the thumb drive into the laptop with the problem.

I started the pesky laptop.

Sadly, it simply booted up into the same critical failure eternal loop which prompted me to seek assistance.

There is nobody near me who I know of who could be of assistance.

Ideally I would have a trustworthy person have access to my laptop{s} both this one and the one with the problem and allow them to conduct the repairs.

Thank you

Have you changed the boot sequence in the BIOS so that the computer boots from your USB thumbdrive.

When I attempt to follow the instructions below, the example of F 11 does not work….Which F-Key should I be using

To Boot from a USB Drive at Boot on Windows 10 PC

1. Connect a bootable USB drive to a USB port on your PC.

2. Turn on or restart your PC.

3. Press the appropriate key (ex: F11) displayed for Boot Menu when you see the option available like below.

Thank you

Thank you

Apologies for the delay getting back to you Ninja666, work has kept me away for a couple of days  :(

It would help if you told us what happens when you try and boot from the USB thumb drive, depending on what does happen it could be a problem with the Windows ISO, it could be a setting that needs changing in the BIOS or the USB device is in a USB 3.0 port when you need to have the thumbdrive in a USB 2.0 port.

I appreciate your sticking with me and understand that you have other obligations.

Yesterday I ordered a new Thumb Drive from Mr. Amazon as I want to be certain that I am using one that I know works properly.

It is scheduled to arrive on Saturday..

I will contact you once it arrives and I have an opportunity to boot from it.

Thank you

You can test your ISO to make sure that it is ok by using QEMU Simple Boot, full info and free download from here

Happily my new thumb drive arrived a couple of hours ago.

I have downloaded Media Creation Tool 1809 and Downloaded Windows 10 to Sand Disk Access V3.1_win and created the Windows 10 Media Setup to my thumbdrive.

After this I placed the thumb drive in my sickly laptop and started it up.

Sadly, the “Critical Failure” notice appeared and the laptop kept rebooting.

I then read your most recent reply and have downloaded the qsiboot_v1.3 Tool to my thumb drive.

When I test it on the thumb drive on my healthy laptop the attached image appears.

What should I do next?

Thank you

No image attached I`m afraid but if when you test your ISO with QEMU you get the Windows logo you know that your ISO is good.

NB: I should have asked earlier Ninja666, can you post a link to your thread on the Avast forum please.

Oh, Joy....Oh, Rapture.

I was able to re-install Windows 10 on my old laptop and it now appears to be working properly.

I greatly appreciate your assistance on this.

It was "Pondus" on the Avast Forum who suggested I come here for assistance.

The Avast thread is located here:  https://forum.avast....6106#msg1486106

Thank you.

Great news, well done for persevering and working your way through this Ninja666

You are most welcome btw  :)

NB: Just read your Avast thread, thank you very much for your kind words there but can I ask that you mention in (possibly edit) your Avast thread that you were helped by Geeks to Go and not Major Geeks, no biggie on my behalf but I`m proud of being a part of GTG and would prefer to have folk visit us and hopefully become a member rather than they go elsewhere, thank you.
