The battery is dead, and it won't recharge. I had the same problem with an almost identical laptop. I have tried everything recommended on the HP website. Please help me.  HP Elite book 8570

I would start by testing the charger unit. On the "charging brick", it should list the output voltage going to the laptop. You will need someone with an digital electrical meter to test the output voltage. With the charger plugged in to the wall outlet and the charging cord unplugged from the laptop, test the output voltage. The testing lead must go down inside the plugin  with the other test lead to the shiny outside of the plugin. Verify the voltage........this is unloaded voltage which may change when it is plugged into the laptop. Make sure the receptacle for the cord on the side of the laptop feels snug when the charging cord is plugged in. Have seen many of these get loose from careless habits. If it is loose, that charging port will need to be replaced. There is a possibility that the battery has gone bad......no sure fire way to test those other than replacing it. Preferably not with a "cheap" battery....they simply do not last. Make sure that the battery latches into its slot securely. Assuming the laptop runs on the power cord, do you see that little charging cord on the battery icon when it it is running ?

Will the laptop run while plugged in to the wall? If it does, then it's either the battery or the charging port on the laptop.
