Thanks for reading! So Idk why, but my computer has gotten worse lately and it randomly freezes up now when I have a game running and I am having to hard reset to get back on. I am usually able to solve tech issues but I feel like I've tried near everything to narrow down the issue, and I have an inkling there is failing hardware, though still trying to figure out what. This PC was built thanks to you forum people back in 2013 so It's about time I got a tuneup anyhow.

Does anyone have some good recommendations for a pc build in this most modern of times? X) I have around a 700 dollar budget, but I am hoping to keep some components for reuse potentially. I will want a new chasis, motherboard, and processor. I do already have a couple sticks of ram, got an SSD, disk drive, windows 10 and a GTX 770 which I am open to upgrading. Also got a power supply of course, not sure but I may need a new one depending on the other parts. Thanks guys and Merry Christmas!

Hello camhov,

 I will want a new chasis, motherboard, and processor. I do already have a couple sticks of ram, got an SSD, disk drive, windows 10 and a GTX 770 which I am open to upgrading. Also got a power supply of course, not sure but I may need a new one depending on the other parts.

So we know what we have to work with;

The RAM to which you refer, is it from the present build or do you have some new DDR4.

Is your Windows 10 new and have an unused Microsoft product key with it.

If the present PSU dates back to 2013 you will definitely need a new one unless it is real high end as in a Corsair or Seasonic that is covered by a ten year warranty.

This PC was built thanks to you forum people back in 2013

Did you forget your log in details so had to create a new account, if yes, can you remember the user name for the account, we might be able to find that original build topic.

Hi there,

You might also want to run hardware diagnostics on your current system to try and pinpoint where any hardware degradation is occurring, especially since you intend to re-use parts from the original build.  Sorry I'm not currently up to speed right now on which diagnostic programs to recommend to you; maybe someone else can weigh in on that?

I had a similar freezing issue occur in a gaming laptop I used for many years - I didn't know how to replace the cooling paste at the time so eventually my GPU couldn't handle the deterioration of its circuitry anymore (it was a GTX 880M).

Cheers!
