RE: Post 14.

I have access to another same model working laptop as the one I'm working with.  Is it as simple as removing the hhd in question and installing in the working machine to test ?  Will it affect the good machine upon re-installation?

To test if the HDD works it should be installed as second drive avoiding booting the Windows System on a different machine.

I have downloaded (ubuntu 22.04 desktop-amd64.iso   3.4 gb) onto a flash drive.  I don't have a new hard drive yet. Is there a way to retrieve my win7 OS from the old

hdd ?

There is a  "System Volume Information" file on the new flash drive along with Ubuntu that i can"t delete. Will it interfere with the attempted boot from the the drive?

Do I insert the flash drive before I turn on the computer on to see if it will boot?

Hmm

Could be the usb

Try it in a working comuter to see if it works

Just to see if it starts to boot then at the first screen pull out.

Your other laptop with the same model what os is on that

I have not been able to boot from ubuntu. I've tried several times.  Two times randomly it has booted as normal on it's own. Those times it operates and navigates as it always did. Both times when I shut down and tried to reboot it would display the "no boot device found".

Are the settings in the attachments correct?
