Common keys to enter the BIOS are:

F1
F2
F10
Delete
Esc

as well as key combinations like:

Ctrl + Alt + Esc
Ctrl + Alt + Delete

although those are more common on older machines.

Also note that a key like F10 might actually launch something else, like the boot menu.

Oh BTW, in case you don't know you need to turn the computer off and wait a few seconds. Then turn it back on and start tapping the key(s) needed to get into the BIOS on your computer.

If I get to the BIOS, how do I check if the keyboard is working properly?

Depends on the make and model number of the motherboard as well as the make and version of the BIOS it has. Some BIOSes even have built-in Diagnostic utilities for Keyboard, Video, RAM, etc.

 

Just follow the instructions on the screen once you get in there. Left arrow to go left, right to go right. Once on what you want, press [Enter]. Etc., etc., etc. Computers are kind of like cars, KInda have to look around and determine what does what. Note that if you mess up you can usually remove the BIOS backup battery for a bit to remove all settings. Then put it back in, power the computer back up, go back into the BIOS and try again.

The problem seems to have resolved, for now. I don't know if swapping the keyboards had any influence, but thank you for the suggestions.
