I'm now finding Windows explorer is opening to My PC any time I ESC out of a full-screen video while it is still playing :(

Verified on both youtube and reddit

Hi.

Can you please be more specific and detailed about what exactly is happening?

If I'm playing a video in full screen in my web browser (Chrome), and hit the [ESC] key while it is playing to get out of full screen, Windows Explorer (file browser, not Internet Explorer) opens a window to This PC .

Check this: Windows File Explorer opens when exiting full screen mode - Super User

For sure, this is not malware related, and I would recommend you to post either in the Windows 10 Forum or the Web Browsers and Email Forum.

Someone else with more experience in these issues will assist you there.

...and now I'm back to square 1 - the popups are back again.

Left my machine for 20 minutes and came back to English-trainer.net again. :(

Does this happen in every browser?

Please take a screenshot of the page that opens, and attach it in your next reply.

I restored the machine to the restore point created in the final step above.

After a restart I was unable to reproduce the behaviour yesterday.

I will try again today and let you know by this evening how i got on.

Hi Dr M.

I'm not sure why it happened again on Friday evening, but since then I've been unable to to reproduce the behaviour again, either with or without the browser open, and the PC idle for long periods.

(I say that like it's a bad thing, but it's a good thing really - I just don't like mysteries when it comes to my PC).

I'm happy for you to mark this as resolved, and thank you once again for your help.

Hi, Maffu.

If that weird thing happens again, you can attach the screenshot here. So, I'll mark the topic as Solved, but leave it open for a while, so you can get back to it if necessary.
