So the extra RAM made it slower?
Did you run the builtin in memory test after installing the new RAM?
https://www.microsof...mory-diagnostic
When you log in are you using a local account or a Microsoft account? Do you enter a password?
Can you start Process Monitor after a reboot and before you bring up your browser then stop the capture after your first search result and then send the results to me?
I don't see any sign in the Http entries that indicates they are calling for an audit so not sure what triggers all of the HttpService events.

Hi,
I dont think the RAM made it slower, it seems to be since I removed the Windows Subsystem for Android. I ran the memory test and no errors were found.
I log in with a PIN number to a local account.
Here are the results from Process Monitor:
Process CPU Private Bytes Working Set PID Description Company Name Verified Signer

Another thought. Try creating a new user and see if logging in and searching as the new user goes faster.

Hi,
I've sent you a link to the Bootlog report on WeTransfer.
I dont know the password to allow me to go into Safe Mode and follow the steps you suggested. I tries setting up a new user however it was no different and took the same amount of time.
I'm starting to think that I will retire this machine as I have a new laptop at my holiday home and may just bring that home with me

If I may chime in again
Download then run Speccy ( free ) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.
To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:
- In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
- In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
- Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.
In addition to the above, once you have done the above, try booting from a live Linux distro on USB to see how the computer behaves when you boot into that, an example guide here for creating the bootable Linux thumbdrive..

Any chance Bitlocker is turned on?
I got your file and the first thing I notice is a lot of calls to bcrypt.dll. That may be normal since I haven't had time to make a comparable file from my control but it jumped out at me.
If you are ready to throw in the towel on this PC perhaps it's time to try a fresh load of Win 11?

Hi,
Here is the Speccy URL for the snapshot: https://speccy.pirif...r3ZeQTmzbLjd7Z2
I've not done the Linux boot. To be honest I am happy to try a fresh load of windows 11 as if that doesnt work then I will use the new laptop. I feel sorry that youve put so much time into trying to resolve this issue and do appreciate all the help
Device encryption doesnt seem to be available to me?

Couple of things of note there is Speccy, I will mention them as they are list and not in any specific order;
GraphicsEK220Q (1920x1080@59Hz)EK220Q (1920x1080@60Hz)Intel UHD Graphics 630 (Acer Incorporated [ALI])
Operating SystemWindows 11 Home 64-bitComputer type: VirtualInstallation Date: 10/05/2024 00:41:44
The computer was not correctly set up after the initial Windows installation, this will slow down boot times, see my canned info below;
Does Acer actually provide Windows 11 drivers specific to this model of computer.
Once Windows has been clean installed you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer ** or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems. The reason why this procedure is so important, the chipset is what enables the MB to be able to communicate with all the hardware + are the first drivers that Windows looks for on boot.** For OEM computers/notebooks such as Acer, Dell, HP and Lenovo etc you must only download drivers from their support page, OEMs may sometimes redirect users to a third party site such as AMD or Nvidea to obtain the latest drivers for their GPUs, this tends to be for high end gaming notebooks and desktops though.
Power ProfileActive power scheme: High performance
Ultra and High Performance are a form of overclocking that is known to cause stability and overheating issues, the setting should only be used for gaming type notebooks that have a discrete GPU that needs the extra power, your computer not having such a discrete GPU means that you should be using either Windows Balanced or what would normally be present an Acer power program specific to this PC.
Last but not least, you presently have two different brands and spec of RAM which will cause problems during the power on self test, this will slow down boot times.

Hi,
Thanks for looking at this for me.
I have had two screens running for a number of years - since first Covid lockdown and didnt have this issue, would you recommend reverting to only one screen?
The installation of Windows 11 on 10th May was an "in place " installation recommended by a colleague on the malware forum although it was running Windows 11 before.
I've had a look on Acers site and I dont believe they provide Windows 11 drivers specific to the machine but it does say this:
The following Acer laptops, desktops and tablets have been tested as being suitable to upgrade to Windows 11. If your product model is not listed in the table below, Acer has not tested the device and the drivers have not been updated for that model. For more information on the Windows 11 upgrade, please visit the Windows 11 official website.
After installing Windows 11, it is recommended that you connect to the internet and run Windows Update to auto-update all drivers. To update Windows applications, please sign in to the Microsoft Store.
My Model is listed as being compatible
I have altered the Power Profile to Balanced and I am waiting for another 8gb RAM as they only had 1 in stick but I added it in the meantime- should I remove 1 again until the other arrives?
What would you recommend that I do - do I just live with the slow start up as it owrks fine after around 5 mins?

Thanks for all of your help with this issue, I will do a reinstall of Windows and see how it goes, as I'd said in an earlier post , I am now away for 6 weeks.
Thank you all again.

Apologies for the delay getting back to you.
Your computer being able to run Windows 11 is not in doubt as it is the CPU that dictates whether or not you can and your CPU being compatible means that you can, the problem that folk have with computers like yours is that the big brand makers stop writing up to date drivers for their older hardware which creates situations just like this.
Reinstalling Windows 11 will not resolve this as you will have the exact same problem, if you post the model name and number of your Acer computer we can find the drivers that you need and the order that you need to install them in.

I won't have access to it for around 6 weeks as I'm away on holiday now but I am happy to pick this up upon my return home if that would be OK? Thank you again
