I will try to send you a file
download to the floppy drive then put the floppy into the 98 machine
but don't reboot yet ok at the c:\windows\system>a: enter should now be A:>
a:>copy himem.sys c:\windows enter

If when typing any of the above commands you receive a prompt that the file already exists, ensure to overwrite it.
should say 1 file copied

Bugger
Does the 98 machine have a cd drive?
If yes can you access the drive?
Do you have a cd you can burn the file to.

do you know anyone who has a computer with a floppy drive?
can they go to here
98SE OEM Boot disk
download the 98SE OEM boot disk to the computer. It will download a file called boot 98.exe put your floppy in the drive and then they click on the file and it will copy all the files across. Then start your machine up (do not boot of the floppy)
then go through the steps as before change to A: drive and type in what I gave you.
(back 3 post at number 111)
After it says 1 file copied take the floppy out and reboot your machine.
at the prompt c:>win hold the shift key down enter and keep holding the shift key while the computer starts
does it start now?
If you can't get the files on to a floppy then burn to a cd and instead of A: put in the letter of your CD drive (make sense)
