no, i didn't do anything except download zone alarm. it was one of the alerts that came up because my firewall had to get used to my computer. it came up at random, about minutes after i downloaded and restarted it. nothing changed. it may be my language settings, because i do have another language on this computer, but i don't know anything else.

Okay, that's good. I am still not sure what why that file was being used. It looks a little suspicious since it is calling the file from your temp directory, and it is obviously trying to communicate through your firewall. Could be from a valid program...who knows...

I am going to get you reply with a log file from WinPfind and another HiJackThis log.

Download WindPFind

Extract WinPFind.zip to your c:\ folder.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then open c:\WinPFind and double-click on WinPFind.exe.
When the program is open, click on the Start Scan button to start scanning your computer. Be patient as this scan may take a while. When it is done, it will show a log and tell you the scan is completed.

Reboot your computer back to normal mode and and post the contents of c:\WinPFind\WinPFind.txt, and a fresh HijackThis log, as a reply to this topic.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

if you receive, while running option #1, an error similar like: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe,
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application.."...then please use option 5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to solve this error condition. do not run the fix portion without fixing this first.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter. It will process then start. Your desktop and icons will disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, it will be ready for a reboot. Press any key to reboot. After the reboot notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
If after the reboot the log does not open double click on it in the l2mfix folder.

Since there is an automatic reboot, you should close any programs that you have open to avoid data loss etc.
Your antivirus and firewall program should be okay to keep open.

From looking at your log, it looks like the only program that is using some of your memory is Ewido.
The rest of the programs only use memory when they are opened. Personally, the one program that I would keep is CCleaner. It does a great job cleaning out temporary files. But, the final decision is up to you...

You should also reset your hidden/system files and folders. System files are hidden for a reason and we don't want to have them openly available and susceptible to accidental deletion.

• Click Start.
• Open My Computer.
• Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
• Select the View tab.
• Under the Hidden files and folders heading UNSELECT Show hidden files and folders.
• CHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
• Click Yes to confirm.
• Click OK.

You have already followed through with most, if not all, of the recommendations that I made to you earlier.

wait, i am sorry for my pickiness, but i still have one more question on the programs. i am at the "add or remove programs" window at this moment. i tried to remove ewido, but an error message came up, saying that it is corrupted or incomplete, and that it could be a result of a damaged disk, a failed download, or a virus. it also says that it may be possible to "skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch (NOT RECOMMENDED). i want that deleted, but i don't know how. and, should i delete LSPFIX.exe and the BFU folder and such?
