Sorry, I forgot to also mention the BFU folder, and the LSPFIX.exe. There were 7 pages of posts, so I probably missed a couple. Let's just say that you can remove any of the tools that we used within this topic. Of course, you should keep the applications that I recommended in the cleanup speech a few posts back.

Ewido.... You did mention earlier that you had problems with Ewido and you attempted a reinstall a couple of times. I believe that it is damaged by the virus earlier on, but I am not positive. Anyways, it is damaged for some reason and you want to get rid of it.

Let's a least get rid of the entry that is showing in your log that loads as a service at startup.

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:

O23 - Service: ewido security suite control - ewido networks - C:\Program Files\ewido\security suite\ewidoctrl.exe

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

This will remove it from taking up memory. You could also try to delete the ewido folder under c:\Program Files\ , I tried to do the same on my test machine, but it wouldn't go without using the uninstaller...

Anyways, none of these programs take up a lot of space disk space, so don't give them to much worry.
The main thing is that you are clean now. :tazz:

r u sure that ewido is gone? i'm really concerned, because it takes up 1232 MB space. that is a lot of space, and i just want to make sure it doesn't take any space now. also, should i delete all of the backup folders and files that i got from this topic? once again, i'm sorry for my concerns. also, do i still need hijackthis?

As I mentioned in my above post, since you said that it will not uninstall properly, the only thing that you can do remove the one entry with HiJackThis, and manually delete the directory and all of its contents. You have tried to install and uninstall several times without success, so that is your only option. Not that it changes much, but are you sure that it is taking up that much space? That is over a gig of space. Regardless, the only option is the ones that I mention above. One big indication that the program is gone, if you remove the entry with HiJackThis, and go back in after a reboot, the entry will not be visible in Hijackthis. If you want, you can post another log to make sure you got it. Although once you start deleting the folder, it will not be active anyways....

The foot print for HijackThis and its backups are not very big. Once you are done using it, you can leave it, or get rid of it. That's up to you.

Okay, you succesfully removed the entry from startup.

I found a utility that may be able to delete the folder. :tazz:

Try this....

Download Unlocker from Here

Once it is downloaded to your computer, install it.
Click Finish when it is done installing.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following folder:

C:\Program Files\ewido\

Right Click the folder.
Click Unlocker
It should bring up another Window with the files that are locked.
Click Unlock All

The Window will close automatically.(Note: You may get an error message.)
Highlight the C:\Program Files\ewido\ folder
Delete the ewido folder.

Reboot your computer.

Let me know if that worked.

hi. i've just right-clicked on the folder "ewido" and clicked unlocker, but an error message popped up, saying:

Unlocker 1.7.6

Error Debug Privileges
Check FAQ on http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

and i could not finish your instructions. i went to that site, and i was afraid that i might do something unsafe, so i'm leaving it up to you. please help me, ewido is extremely large.

I think you are going to have to do this the manual way. Sorry, it is the only thing that I can suggest at this point. There are 3 files that I have isolated down on my computer that I couldn't be deleted.(context.dll, lang.dll, info.dll) When I try to delete them, I get the access denied message. Besides those 3 files, I was able to delete the rest of the contents under the Ewido folder.(C:\Program Files\ewido\ ) Please try to manually delete files and folders in the Ewido folder. You may have more locked files, but I think you can get rid of most of the other files/folders. I would try them in groups, avoiding the files I mentioned above. If there are other files that are locked, you may have to select individual files until every file/folder that can be deleted is taken care of.

After, you have finished, let me know what the exact size that is taken up by the remainder of the contents under the Ewido folder. Right -Click the Ewido folder, Click Properties, let me know the size listed. Post back after you have tried to get rid of as much of the files/folders in the Ewido folder.

hi. interestingly, i did what u said. i double clicked the ewido folder, and attempted to delete the security files folder. it was successful, so i tried to delete the ewido folder. it was successful also. then i went to the control panel and tried to remove ewido, and it worked. i have absolutely no idea how that happened, but it's gone. thank you, but could you look at my hijack this log to make sure everything is clean and ewido is really gone? i would greatly appreciate it.

this is my hijackthis log:
