BackGround: I am an engineer in chemistry and I've degrees in Math, Physics, Finance, Business Management...
I worked for some years as a researcher in organic chemistry.
As chemistry was in a crisis period, I joined the computing world in 1971 and attended the evolutions/revolutions since then... hence my nickname stating that I was already here in the beginning (I was born with the ENIAC): ipl stands for Initial Program Loading which was the acronym written on a blue button of the IBM Series 1 computers to start or reboot them.
My first steps in the antimalware arena... I was a member of the board Computing.Net in the last century and helped users with their computing issues: system (Windows 9x) and viruses; regarding viruses, there were more and more problems I was unable to cope with as this bloody spyware thingy was still there and I used to send "my users" to SWI... after some months on French boards, I went to the Boot Camp of SpywareInfo to learn their secrets.
Then I went back to French forums as it was more important to clean French computers and not have them in the US!
I organized things teaching and bringing together French Malware Fighters in a kind of private super-forum where we learn, teach and work in a close relationship with the global antimalware community... sure, I was led to Geeks to Go!

Location: Massachusetts, USA

How I found GTG: Actively looking for malware training, and this was one of the best sites I found. Looked clean and professional, and friendly as well :)

Anything else? I've always wanted to be a vegetarian but my parents never let me. I religiously drink soymilk instead of regular milk, favorite classical composer is Chopin, and my favorite pianist is Vladimir Ashkenazy.

There's really nothing else remarkable I can tell you (what do you expect from a fourteen year-old?). I could start bragging about stuff, but that isn't necessary :)

How I found G2G: I was Googling for basic instructions on how to get a PC cleaned (to help someone else on another board), and guess what I found - You Must Read This Before Posting A Hijackthis Log. Lurking around the forums, I found the Join Us thread, and yada-yada-yada, I'm here :)

Why G2G?: I stayed here not only because of the training - but also because of the community here. Besides the malware part of the training, I also got some much needed practice on my English.

Profession: Dad, Husband, IT Admin/Tech (with some sales thrown in)

Location: Gold Coast, QLD, Australia

Age: I was 19, but it changed on me. :)

Moderates: The Tech forums. This includes everything but the discussion/introduction/malware sections of this forum.

Interests: Computers and hardware, video games, water skiing (slalom) and inboard V8 ski boats :), spending time with my family, hitting the road for a drive in the country, bush walking, finding a hidden cafe somewhere up the mountains and enjoying a meal, running in the rain, music music music - playing guitar/drums/bass, and of course - Geeks to Go.

Other forums: What the Tech (Tech Staff there as well). No longer active though.

I love the sense of community here at Geeks to Go, it's definitely my favoured forum. Usually you'll find me in the System Building and Upgrading section, although I do occasionally venture to other parts of the forums, usually on a whim.

Don't forget everyone here is a volunteer - yes that includes us as staff! Nobody picks up a paycheck here. So please remember to show your appreciation to your helpers, be it a simple "thank-you" or a donation.

Also, if you aren't being helped in a timely fashion, the Waiting Room caters for people with no replies during the last 3 days. Simply post up a new topic there and you'll be helped in good time.

Cheers

Why Geeks to Go? I stumbled across the site some years ago and really appreciated the effort the folks that I started interacting with put forth and the knowledge that was available. I also appreciate the friendliness of the people here. I am just glad that I can share what I have learned over the years with others and hope that I sometimes even help them out of a jam!

About Me: I started being interested in computers in the mid-80's while I was in the US Army. We had a IBM XT that had 64K of RAM, two 5.25" drives and initially a green monochrome monitor that was replaced with a EGA CRT. No hard drive. I started learning BASIC programming and spent many hours playing "Rogue" (some of you might remember that DOS game). After the Army I was heavy into the BBS community, running my own BBS and interacting across networks such as FIDOnet and WWIVnet. I also got involved in building PC's and just everyday gained more and more computer knowledge which eventually lead me to move out of the telecommunications field and into IT which is where I am now.

I am a US Army Veteran, VFW Member, active in my church, a happily married husband and father to 3 great kids!

How did I find Geeks To GO? And how did I get to where I am now?: Needed help for a nasty virus. Was impressed with the professional help and decided I wanted to be part of the site. I then joined the Tech Academy to become a Tech Staff member. Now help where I can.
