Lexy610,

When I look up your service tag it is not clear. Is this a Dimension 9150 or an XPS 400 or something else on the label on the front???

ComboFix needs to be run with a switch. Please start your computer in Normal mode.

Please disable your realtime antivirus and/or antispyware.

Click Start >> Run >> type ComboFix /nombr >> hit ENTER

  • The blue window will open up and ComboFix will run.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" for further review.

Notes:
1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions

It is a Dimension so thank you for that. I am checking on the screen and will be back later. Please continue to be patient. I know this has been terribly frustrating to you but you have done great on a difficult problem.

When you turn on the computer is this all you see?

Do you see the Dell splash screen?

If no Dell splash screen do you see anything else other than what you sent me a picture of?

Just started it ... I did get Dell splash .... then got Microsoft Windows XP splash ... but now it allowed me log in ... I am on my desktop now however I did get an error window .... "Windows - System Error ... a duplicate name exists on this network" I don't know what that means but I realized the cd I made from your instructions was still in computer and I have removed it .. don't know if that had anything to do with it but thought I should tell you ..

once on desktop I got a window saying "miscrosoft windows the system has recovered from a serious error .. I will post pic on next post ..
