Insert the USB drive into the ailing computer.
Click on My Computer
Click on the USB removable drive.
Right click on ComboFixselect copy.
Right click on an open space on the desktop then click on paste.

Repeat the steps above for the Windows Recovery Console file.

Now you should have both of them on the desktop of your ailing computer.

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

  • Drag the setup package onto ComboFix.exe and drop it.

  • Follow the prompts to start ComboFix and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Recovery Console.

  • At the next prompt, click 'Yes' to run the full ComboFix scan.

  • When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Be patient ComboFix can take a long time to run. It may stop at several steps along the way but as long as your hard drive light is blinking every so often it is working.

That is all normal it will stay there a long time and it will count steps to around 50 or more, some will go fast and some very slow. When it nears the end it may want to reboot and then after reboot it will take forever preparing the log, just be patient.

When it finally prepares the log please copy it to the USB drive and transfer it to the good computer so you can post it here.

Then reboot the ailing computer. Once it finishes loading try to connect to the internet.

Please shutdown the comuputer and boot into safe mode.

After the Dell splash screen shows start tapping the F8 key until you get to the Advanced Options Boot Menu.

Select Safe Mode.

Confirm it is in Windows and it will boot.

Click Yes to go into safe mode and if it gives you a choice log on as Administrator and then Double click ComboFix to run it.

Now you will need to do this when you can watch it so that when it reboots the computer you can be there to again tap F8 and enter into safe mode for it to finish.
