Sorry that was the wrong repair.  I meant this one:

Windows Repair all in one

http://www.tweaking....all_in_one.html

Download it and save it then run it.

You can skip to step 4 or 5 where it gives you the same picture as in the above link.

Make sure all of these are checked before hitting Start:

Reset Registry Permissions
Reset File Permissions
Register System Files
Repair WMI
Repair Windows Firewall
Repair Internet Explorer
Repair MDAC & MS Jet
Repair Hosts File
Remove Policies Set By Infections
Repair Icons
Repair Winsock & DNS Cache
Remove Temp Files
Repair Proxy Settings
Unhide Non System Files
Repair Windows Updates
Repair CD/DVD Missing/Not Working

Reboot when done and run VEW again as before.

The DNS Client service could not contact any DNS servers for a repeated number of attempts. For the next 30 seconds the DNS Client service will not use the network to avoid further network performance problems. It will resume its normal behavior after that. If this problem persists, verify your TCP/IP configuration, specifically check that you have a preferred (and possibly an alternate) DNS server configured. If the problem continues, verify network conditions to these DNS servers or contact your network administrator.

Windows update Error 0x80070005

The error code 0x80070005 is also described as ACCESS DENIED.

Please follow these instructions if you are encountering this error code when checking or installing updates via Windows Udpate.

To correct the problem, you can try the steps below. Keep in mind that these steps are still experimental. I look forward to your feedback and results. For the long term, we hope that we can create an automated solution for all.

1. Download and install SubInACL from the Microsoft Download Center http://www.microsoft...ang=en&id=23510

2. Open Notepad (Click Start, type Notepad, and then press Enter)

3. Copy and paste the following text into Notepad

Set OSBIT=32

IF exist "%ProgramFiles(x86)%" set OSBIT=64

set RUNNINGDIR=%ProgramFiles%

IF %OSBIT% == 64 set RUNNINGDIR=%ProgramFiles(x86)%

subinacl /subkeyreg "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing" /grant="nt service\trustedinstaller"=f

4. Close Notepad, and make sure you save it. When you save the text, make sure that you set
Save as Type to “All Files (*.*)”. Very important! The file name needs end with .CMD. For example:fix.cmd. Lastly, when you save the file, make sure you save it at a location where it will be easy for you to find.

5. Right click on the file that you just saved in step #4, and select “Run as Adminstrator”

To confirm that you have the symptoms and to validate the problem, please see the below:

Let's see if we can just use the file.  Attached is a zip file.  save it then right click and extract all.

I sent you the file subacl.zip from my netbook.  See if you can extract the .exe and move it to

C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\

Then download the reset.zip from here:

http://www.winhelpon...-in-windows-xp/

and follow their instructions.

I can't remember, have we tried installing stuff from another user login?  I once had a system that had lost permissions on the temp file and using a second login solved the problem.

Copy the next line:

mkdir "\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools "

then open a command window and right click and Paste or Edit then Paste and the line should appear.  Hit Enter.

Does it give you an error?  If not you should now have the folder.

the idea was to create the folder then move the file I sent you to it and try to run the reset.cmd from the other page.
