Did you try the Uninstall Utility? Does it still give you an error?
Perhaps we need to try a system restore?
which uninstall utility? Ive downloaded so many programs I have lost track of which does what.................
when I try to do a system restore I get a rstrui.exe application error
Is the date right on your computer? MS says lots of things will fail if the date is screwed up.
The installer cleanup tool is what I meant:
http://www.majorgeek...up_utility.html
correct time and date.......following message when trying to run that program....Windows script host can't find script engine "VBScript" for script "C:\Docume-1\Miriam-1\Locals-1\Temp\IXP000.TMP\StartMsi.vbs"
Try this:
Open up regedit and check the following registry key:
HKCR\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}\InprocServer32
Within it, there is a registry value called (Default) which should carry a Data value of:
C:\Windows\system32\vbscript.dll
If it says something else, you’ll need to change it to match the above. This should fix your problem!
From:
http://triplescomput...ipt-for-script/
This is getting annoying.
Copy the next line:
reg query "HKCR\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}\InprocServer32" > \junk.txt
notepad \junk.txt
Then open a command prompt and right click and Paste or Edit then Paste and the copied lines should appear. Hit Enter if notepad does not come up.
Copy and paste the text from notepad into a reply.
How did you get the screen shot to work?
Does the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\vbscript.dll exist? If you put
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vbscript.dll
in GrantPerms does it find it or did we break that too?
Does it make any difference bringing up reg edit if you type:
regedit.exe
or
regedt32.exe
We can also try a manual system restore if the files exist.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545
part 2 and 3 are essentially doing a manual system restore. This assumes that the files in C:\System Volume Information are still available.
I searched for the registry key you sent me and it did not find it
Appears it is there and correct since reg query found it. ( I assume you mean: HKCR\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}\InprocServer32)
try the following in a command window:
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
Do you get an error? If not, try the installer cleanup tool again.
