Im using a 64 bit system running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I have Firefox for Ubuntu canonical 1.0. For some reason just recently I have been having trouble with some, but not all websites loading. Like for instance I search something using whatever search engine, find what I want, and click the link and the page that pops up is the "Unable to connect" error. My DNS is working, It does not matter wheather I am using my VPN or not. I would like to use Ubuntu almost exclusivly, but this problem has forced me to use WInders more and more.

Oh, and I cannot open ANY government website, ending in .gov

can you try using a different browser and see if you get the same results, if it works with the other browser then the problem is firefox specific or one of it's add-ons you may have installed.
