I need help and advice about Avira Antivirus and the add ons as I am clueless. Which should I install or avoid. Any advice would be much appreciated, but please don't use to much tech jargon as I will be lost. I need advice with simple jargon as I am still in the 2000s with my knowledge.

Hey Krystaltips,

Are you weighing up the options here: https://www.avira.co...2M_IxoC_bXw_wcB

I.e. Antivirus Pro vs Internet Security Suite vs Total Security Suite? If this is the case...

As you requested no technical jargon i'll keep it short. You get what you pay for.

If you just use your computer for day-to-day stuff I don't see you needing the 'Total Security Suite'.

I would opt for the Internet Security Suite. It has all the features of the antivirus plus some added protection for when you use the internet (this is called a 'firewall')  :) If you want more specific information don't hesitate to ask.

In terms of the 'Optimization' and 'Tune-Up' tools. You don't really need to pay for these as there are many free alternatives that are less resource intensive. If you need suggestions for this please ask.

Hi and welcome to our forums.

:welcome:

Avira anti virus free is of good reputation and generally is a sound form of free anti virus protection.

Remember however that whilst having good protections in force including anti virus Is an important part of your overall security, it is often said that it's the computer operator who plays the most important part in keeping clear of trouble!

Here's an article published last Oct/Nov that gives a view on the product:

Don't forget that "Browser Safety Component" works only in Chrome and Firefox (Not Internet Explorer)
