how do I get rid of these temporary files?

The filename or extension is too long.

If you're running Windows, try this. From an elevated cmd prompt, type the following two commands, pressing [Enter] after each:

cd /d F:\temp\Xamarin\DocSet\com.apple.adc.documentation.AppleiOS8.1.iOSLibrary.docset\Contents\Resources\1\1\clm\5
del animate*.xml

Note: You could also simply copy and paste them in to your elevated cmd prompt.
