Hey there.

 

I have a Intel® mini laptop with Windows XP (Wireless adapter named Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 100)

 

I have access to the internet through a "3G Mobile Partner", or "Data Card" or I don't know how you call it in your location. It is an USB modem.

 

And I want to share my internet connection to my phone 'wirelessly', I mean, via Wi-Fi hotspot.

 

I've been searching on the internet and I found tutorials with the application "Connectify", it makes the process very simple, but it is paid software and I don't have any US$ or even a credit card.

 

Then I found "Connectiny", it allegedly does the same functions than the app mentioned above and for free. I installed the app and it says it is not a valid Win32 application. Perhaps it is only for Windows 7 x64 and above?

 

So my question is: How do I share my internet with my phone?

Please follow these steps for creating hotspot for usb adapter.

 

    1. Press the "Windows key" and "R" button at the same time. The Run window will pop up.
    2. Type"cmd" in the box then hit"Enter" or OK. The Command Prompt will pop up, with Administrative Privileges.
    3. Type netsh wlan show drivers in command prompt and press enter. It will show you if you have driver for creating hotspot or not. If yes, than follow next step else change external wifi adapter.
    4. Type netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Hotspotname key=password in Command prompt. This will create a Hotspot but it is currently offline.
    5. Type netsh wlan start hostednetwork in command prompt to start the hotspot you just created.

    6. Search in the Start menu for “View network connections.”
    7. Right-click your main ethernet connection and choose “Properties.”
    8. Under the “Sharing” tab, click the box labeled “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection.”
    9. In the drop down below the above box, choose the network connection that currently has internet access. Click OK.
