If actual crash then there should be a entry in the event viewer for it. please check and reply back with the information. With what you are showing it seems the installation did not work correctly.

Do you have a USB keyboard?
I found two possible ways to resolve this issue below. Be warned these both have to do with modifying the registry and before doing so I would strongly suggest the backing up the registry using Erunt.
ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed.
The standard registry backup options that come with Windows back up most of the registry but not all of it. ERUNT however creates a complete backup set,
including the Security hive and user related sections. ERUNT is easy to use and since it creates a full backup, There are no options or choices other than to select the location of the backup files.
The backup set includes a small executable that will launch the registry restore if needed.

- Device: i8042prt - Deleting the registry key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt] solved this issue.

- Device: i8042prt - There was an issue with Hotplugging of the USB keyboard. Solved this problem by opening the registry, going to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters] and changing the value Headless data to 0x1 (Allow Hotplugging).

OK now you will have to do one of the steps in the quote box.
To get tot he registry do the following.
Go to Start and then to Run
Now type in Regedit and click Enter
Now you will have to navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt on the left window.
Once there you will have to delete the i8042prt part on the left. Once done close the editor and reboot. Let me know if the error still happens or it resolves it.

Ok heres an update. comp. crashed wouldnt boot up, tried to repair several times, and it crashed repeatedly. I fdisked and reinstalled vista however everytime it got to 100% install it would bsod and crash. Then on a hunch I pulled all my ram except one stick and I was able to install vista, and here I am. The only weird thing is that when I first started having all these problems I ran a memtest on each of my ram individually without any problems. any ideas?

Even though memtest may not have found a problem does not mean the ram is good. The other reason could be a bad memory slot on the motherboard.
Is the memory matching pairs from the same manufacturer?
Are they both single sided chips or chips on both sides?
Are they the same specs as in ddr,ddr2, pc2500,2600,2700...?

Ddr2-1066 PC2-8500 2.0v-2.1v
DDR2-800 PC2-6400 1.8v-1.9v

OK that means the faster memory is slowing down to match the slower memory.
Is the slowest memory in slots 1 and 2?
Try taking out the new memory and seeing if that will resolve the issue. Let me know the results.
