Hello, I've been trying to find out what's wrong with my PC, I think I've got it narrowed it down to, two possible items.
Quick background:
My old Mainboard recently gave way, so I've brought 90% new PC.
Before my Old PC gave way i had a few BSOD which i was working to try to narrow down what my problem was the error i had pointed to it either being my HDD, or my GFX card.

Since then I've brought a new CPU, new RAM, new Mainboard, and a new PSU, so the only remaining parts we're the GFX Card and the HDD, which pretty much confirmed my previous findings/research via dumps.

Having downloaded BlueScreenView and gone though the notes I've put them into a .txt file (seeing as 100% of the posts on this website want you to do it eventually, but i was using the program before to find my error so i have a few logs, heh,

Could Anyone with more experance then myself, tell me if it's the HDD or the GFX Card? Since I've got the new Parts I've actually been getting the BSOD alot more frequently hence the desperation of asking for help. (my HDD is 1TB so i'm getting worried i'll lose all my data)

I believe it is your video but lets check the disk to make sur.e

Tutorial for running chkdsk in Vista\Win 7 located HERE.

Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech....ay.cfm?ttid=287
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable.

NOTE. If your hard drive is made by Toshiba, try the Hitachi DFT CD Image version of the software

Thanks to Broni for the instructions

Thanks, Totally forgot about the Western Digital Data life program, not used it since day 1 of buying my HDD,
While i do this scan, do you happen to know how to find out if it IS my GFX card or not? I've always assumed it is (already looking into getting a 560TI but it's always good to be 100% sure i believe.

Your two newest BSOD's seem to be caused by the video but the error messages for the rest point toward the hd so I wanted to test that first.

ah okey, doing the scan now, it should take 2 hours.
i don't know if it makes a difference or not but i "feel" like it should be mentioned.

i can sometimes get 1-2 BSOD just loading the PC now. but eventually gets into windows
Just before the last 2 i did a full windows update, (Windows got installed a few days ago) i don't know if the Windows Updates would of changed how the error message would be displayed or not so i thought i would note that.

Thanks for your help though buddy ^^ *hands over a beer*

If this is happening before Windows even loads it could be verifying what I think with the hd.

The Extended Test has been completed. all Green across the board, Total time 2 and a half hours.
I've added an image in case the numbers mean anything.

Could the change in Errors, be from me updating my Windows via Windows Update and maybe adding more detail to the BSOD?
OR Maybe the fact i'm getting 1-2 BSOD the second it gets to loading windows, be once it loads my GFX card it crashes?

Which sounds a bit odd, because I've been used driver fusion (Driver sweeper) to remove my ATI drivers clean from my PC, and I've tried 12.5, 12.6 and 12.7 Beta Drivers which "should" rule out ATI driver malfunction, correct?

I was leaning towards my GFX card being faulty until it started failing at windows load, and it can't be driver related...

Now i'm even more confused then before.

Edit: because i'm actually really confused right now as i thought it would be the GFX card, i'll post all minor things which could help.

Most of the time i get BSOD it's when i'm on youtube, I can actually play Dayz, World of Warcraft, League of legends without getting a BSOD, but when i open a youtube clip i "can randomly" get an error saying my video driver has stopped working sometimes it reloads perfectly fine, (video is green, untill i hit refresh) and everything is back to normal, sometimes it doesn't actually fix itself, and thus i BSOD (The first 9 Errors we're like this)
The last 2 errors i can't say for sure what caused them. i had to go to the doctors while my Computer was doing a windows update, when i came back i noticed my computer was in sleep mode (Forgot to turn sleep mode off) as the PC came back on, i noticed it was trying to load windows then i got the last BSOD as it started loading into "Windows loading" section of the bios, which i noticed had a different error message.

OK good news is it is not the hard drive causing the problems so we move on to the next step.

A If you have more than one RAM module installed, try starting computer with one RAM stick at a time.

NOTE Keep in mind, the manual check listed above is always superior to the software check, listed below. DO NOT proceed with memtest, if you can go with option A

B. If you have only one RAM stick installed...
...run memtest...

1. Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip). If you prefer to use the USB version then use this link USB KEY
2. Unzip downloaded /memtest86+-4.20.iso.zip file.
3. Inside, you'll find /memtest86+-4.20.iso file.
4. Download, and install ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/
5. Insert blank CD into your CD drive.
6. Open ImgBurn, and click on Write image file to disc
7. Click on Browse for a file... icon:

Posted Image

8. Locate memtest86+-4.20.iso file, and click Open button.
9. Click on ImgBurn green arrow to start burning bootable memtest86 CD:

Posted Image

10. Once the CD is created, boot from it, and memtest will automatically start to run. You may have to change the boot sequence in your BIOS to make it work right.

To change Boot Sequence in your BIOS

Reboot the system and at the first post screen (where it is counting up memory) start tapping the DEL button
This will enter you into the Bios\Cmos area.
Find the Advanced area and click Enter
Look for Boot Sequence or Boot Options and highlight that click Enter
Now highlight the first drive and follow the directions on the bottom of the screen on how to modify it and change it to CDrom.
Change the second drive to the C or Main Drive
Once that is done then click F10 to Save and Exit
You will prompted to enter Y to verify Save and Exit. Click Y and the system will now reboot with the new settings.

The running program will look something like this depending on the size and number of ram modules installed:

Posted Image

It's recommended to run 5-6 passes. Each pass contains very same 8 tests.

This will show the progress of the test. It can take a while. Be patient, or leave it running overnight.

The following image is the test results area:

The most important item here is the “errors” line. If you see ANY errors, even one, most likely, you have bad RAM.

Just curious are you sure you want me to do this, even knowing the ram I've put in is brand new and i had the exact same error with the other ram I've already removed?
(The whole PC is brand new, Minus the HDD, Case, and GFX card)

I'll do it don't get me wrong, just making sure ^^
(the only difference is it didn't happen as frequently as it did with the older ram)

Also.

"NOTE Keep in mind, the manual check listed above is always superior to the software check, listed below. DO NOT proceed with memtest, if you can go with option A"
I don't quite understand this part.

Do you want me to do either
Remove a stick of ram - keep my pc on to see if an error happends
or
Remove a stick of ram and still do the memtest (which was option B)

Option A is the removal of all but one stick of memory and testing with it. If ok you remove and replace with another stick and repeat till you have tested all the memory modules by themselves. You can use the program if you don't want to do option A.

Yes I would like to test the memory because even though it is new it can still be faulty.

Okey.
Burning the Disk for Memtest
(Sorry about the stupid question, just got threw off due to the "DO NOT proceed with memtest, if you can go with option A" bit :P was thinking to myself "no other way to test it without memtest either way lol)

No problem. Personally I do not like option A simply because most that I help are not computer savvy enough to do it. Don't feel like it's a stupid question because I get asked all the time about it.

Okey, well it felt like a stupid question >^.^<
RAM 1: 1 Pass 0 Errors so far.

when you said do 6-7 passes, did you mean let each stick do the test 6-7 times? o-o

not issue related: Did find something interesting i guess, the ram i brought was meant to be 1600MHZ, apparently it's only 672MHZ DDR3 1345 :o

OK each test is like 5 or 6 different little test so a pass would be when it finishes all those tests.
Are you sure that 1600 isn't if you wanted OC the memory?

Almost on the Second Pass.

It could be to be honest, I don't overclock any of my gear, doesn't matter though, thought it was at 1600 by defult (seeing as the website was stating 1600, and testing it at 1600, its no prob ^^

As i was typing this i got my 2nd pass no errors yet :)

This is going to take a while to get to 6-7 (4-5 more to go) plus i have the other stick to do.

What i'll do is stay up till 4am doing this stick, then put the second stick in before i go to bed.

So i guess i'll catch up with you tomorrow mate ^^ (I highly doubt you'll want to stay up till 4am haha, i know i don't)
