You are correct regarding the HDD test results, did you do the Advanced (full) test as suggested by The Skeptic.

Precautionary measure;

As bad sectors have been confirmed on the HDD I suggest that you back up any important data before you do any further tests, once the data is secure refer to the tutorial @ http://www.vistax64....isk-chkdsk.html let us know the results please, do also keep in mind though the PSU issue.

Thanks again The Skeptic :thumbsup:

Sorry for the lapse in time. Had some personal issues.

I have run a chkdsk r before and it really did not repair anything.

I just wanted to touch base with you. On a whim, I have downloaded a driver program that finds if your computer needs updates. I am usually pretty good at updating, but evidently I did need a lot of drivers. So, I downloaded all of them and one was a chipset. Anyway, since I updated everything my computer has been running great. I don't want to jump to any conclusions and I am still going to have my PSU checked, but I just wanted your input on this.

If your computer is running great leave it at that. Watch to see if it deteriorates. I hope it won't.

Frankly I am quite surprised. Normally you don't update a driver unless you have a specific problem which can be attributed to a faulty or not-updated driver. I have never seen a faulty chipset driver and very few cases in which update of this driver was needed. However, the fact that I didn't see something is of minor consideration. If it works well, then that's what matters.

I consider these driver-updating programs to be awful. Very often they cause serious damage. Updating drivers across the board is risky and completely unnecessary.

Best regards
