Hi SleepyDude,

So the fix went fine but my Internet still wasn't working when I restarted my computer after it finished. I was able to use the Network Troubleshooter (which I couldn't do before we started all this), so that seems like an improvement! According to the troubleshooter the Windows Wireless Service is not running on my computer and when I tried to turn it on it said, "Windows cannot resolve the problem. Please contact your network administrator or Internet provider." Here's the log from the fix:

cmd: reg import "C:\Windows\Temp\G2G\legacy_bfe.reg"
The operation completed successfully.

cmd: reg import "C:\Windows\Temp\G2G\legacy_bits.reg"
The operation completed successfully.

cmd: reg import "C:\Windows\Temp\G2G\legacy_mpssvc.reg"
The operation completed successfully.

cmd: reg import "C:\Windows\Temp\G2G\legacy_sdrsvc.reg"
The operation completed successfully.

cmd: reg import "C:\Windows\Temp\G2G\legacy_wscsvc.reg"
The operation completed successfully.

Hi,

Can you connect the computer directly to the router using an Ethernet cable?

With the computer connected by cable generate new logs with MiniToolBox and Farbar Service Scanner like you did before.

Please post the new logs.

Hi,

I connected my computer to the router, but I still can't get Internet. Do you want me to run the scans while my computer is connected to the router? I assumed you were wanting me to get Internet access, but if not let me know and I'll run those scans for you.

Hi,

Let's try to refresh the system configuration...

Step 1 - Run OTL Fix

!!! WARNING !!! The following fix is only relevant for this system and no other, running the script on another computer will not work and may cause problems...

  • Right click on the icon Posted Image and choose Run as Administrator to execute the tool. Make sure all other windows are closed.
Do not change any other settings unless otherwise told to do so.
  • Under the Posted Image box at the bottom, paste in the following:
    :Commands
    [CreateRestorePoint]

    :Files
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt /c
    netsh winsock reset /c
    ipconfig /release /c
    ipconfig /flushdns /c
    ipconfig /renew /c

  • click the Posted Image button at the top. Let the program run uninterrupted.
  • click OK
Notes:
  • When OTL executes the Fix it can shutdown all running processes and you may lose the Desktop and icons, but they will return on reboot
  • OTL may ask to reboot the machine. Please accept right away.
  • The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot. Copy & Paste that report in your next reply and not as attachment.
  • The OTL fix log will be saved in the following location: C:\_OTL\MovedFiles\mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log - where mmddyyy _hhmmss is the date and time when the fix run.

Step 2 - Reinstall System devices
  • Open Device Manager click Start Posted Image. On the Search box type devmgmt.msc and press Enter
  • the Device Manager window will open, click the View menu and select Show hidden devices
  • click view again and select Devices by connection.
  • scroll down the list to locate the drivers listed below, right click each of them and click Uninstall
(don't worry these will be reinstalled by windows after restart).
    Ancillary Function Driver for Winsock
    Net BT
    Http
    NetIO Legacy TDI Support Driver
    Tcp/ip Protocol Driver
    Tcp/ip Registry Compatibility
    NSI proxy Service

Note: Each of these drivers will request a reboot after uninstall wait until the last one to reboot.

Step 3 - Minitoolbox
  • Connect the computer with the Ehternet cable for now
  • Close all the programs and run MiniToolBox
    Posted Image
  • Check the following options:

Hi,

Things aren't looking good with all that errors on the Device Manager, let's see if the files are really missing...

Step 1 - Search with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)
  • Execute FRST/FRST64 right click on the icon Posted Image and choose Run as Administrator. Make sure all other windows are closed.
(When the Tool opens for the first time you must click Yes on the disclaimer.)
    Posted Image
  • On the Search box Copy & Paste the following text:
    tunnel.sys;rasl2tp.sys;ndiswan.sys;raspppoe.sys;raspptp.sys;rassstp.sys

  • Press the Search button.
  • Wait for the search to finish FRST will produce a log called (Search.txt) in the same directory the Tool is run from.
  • Please copy and paste the log to your post.

Things I would like to see in your next reply:
  • The Search.txt log

Hi,

I would like to see a picture of both your network devices...

  • Click Start Posted Image. On the Search box type ncpa.cpl and press Enter
  • right click the Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller icon and click Properties
  • Please take a picture of the window using the Windows Snipping Tool
Repeat the steps above also for the Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini device and attach the picture.

Hi,

I searched for ncpa.cpl and this is the window that popped up; should the Marvell Yukon icon be there or do I need to click on something else?
