Hi Phil, I'm returning to this forum after having my computer cleaned of Malware.

After the cleaning I tried to install the HP printer program, but was unsuccessful.  Can you help?

Chris

Hello! You might give this a try until Phill has time to answer. His job has been keeping him very busy. This has worked for me before!!

Hello Your welcome!! Do you have the HP installation CD?? If so have you tried to reinstall your printer?? Do you see your printer in device manager under imaging devices?

Can you be more specific about not working?? Are you using it with USB cable or are you using it wireless?

Hello Sorry Phill. I just now realized this was a old topic and my suggestions were already recommended by yourself.

I have a HP Photosmart 7510 and it can really be a pain at times. I have had to completely uninstall it a couple of times and reinstall it. It's wireless and always losing the scan to PC feature. Usually a reboot fixes that. I'm not a big fan of HP products.

PS I'll go back and read the whole thread before adding further replies.

You are appreciated my friend!

donetao!

Hello! I have read the complete thread and I'm attaching some screen shots of what you should see in device manager and Devices and printers!

I hope this helps!

Hello Use this program to find all the files that Revo left behind.

http://www.voidtools.com/download/

Also uninstall all traces of the HP printer.

Type the name of your printer at the top of Search Everything App. It will find all the files. You can delete them with this program. They will go into the recycle bin!

Here is a screen shot of all my HP Photosmart 7510 files.

PS give the program time to load. It will load all the files that are on your computer and then narrow them down as you start typing at the top in the search bar.

I do have the installation disk and have tried using it with no success.  I do see the printer in the device manager and I also see "unknown device" in the device manager under Other Devices.  The problem with my printer is that I can not scan to my computer.  There is no desktop icon, and no file folder for the printer.  There is a folder for my HP computer.  The only function I can perform from my computer is to print.  The connection is a wireless connection.  I do have an icon in the control panel.

I do not have the windows 7 disk.

Do you have your 25 digit Microsoft product code for the present installation, if not we can help you obtain it from your computer + provide the information that you need to download a Windows 7 ISO, for now we should wait on an update from donetao, again to avoid weighing you down with things to check and/or do.

Hi donetao, I do have the installation disk for the printer, I've used it with no success.  The printer is in the Device Manager along with another "Unknown Device" in the "Other Device".  I can not scan from the printer to the computer.  The only thing I can do is print.  There is no desktop icon and there is no file folder for the printer.  My computer is HP and there is a file folder for the computer.  I'm using wireless connection for the printer.

I do not have the windows 7 disk.

I must be doing something wrong, because I'm unable to delete HP file from the voidtools program.

I do not have the Microsoft code.

Hello! How many HP printer files do you see in the voidtools program? You should be able to right click the files and delete them. They will go to the recycle bin.

Also try this. Unplugg the USB cable and the power cable to your printer. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Plugg the power cord back in and then try to install the printer with CD. do not plug  in the USB cable until instructed to do so.

After reading this whole thread and all the programs you were told to use, it might be a good time to save your data and restore back to factory settings; if you have that option available to you. Let Phil confirm and advise you on that. That is not the best option to use, but there comes a time for me, when I just give in and start from scratch.

PS A right click on the file in voidtools should give you the option to delete the fife. It is my option that you are going to have to completely remove the printer before reinstalling it???

The other option is to buy a Brother Printer

Could you attach a screen shot of device manager??
