The computer is a Dell laptop with Win 11 Pro.  This morning, for the first time, when double-clicking on a .jpg file, an error message appeared: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not the appropriate permission to access the item."

"The item" does open with Paint, Acrobat, IrfanView, and Photoshop. It can also be imported into a Word file. Curiously, the browser option does not appear in the Open with... menu.

The same error appears when trying to open a .jpeg, pr .png file.

"Photos" app is the default app to open these image files.

The OS is updated.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you, it did help. It pointed to resetting the 'Installed App' which I was missing previously.
