the gigabyte card has more memory (256mb) and a dvi connector.  the MSI has 128mb and a vga connector (striclty based comparisons on links provided).

here is some more info on then 7100gs:

https://www.techpowe...ce-7100-gs.html

and here for the 6200:

https://www.techpowe...e-6200-agp.html

7100gs series, being newer is more powerful (faster cpu, newer internal architecture, faster memory (ddr2)).  6200 has ddr memory

The biggest difference in the cards you linked is the amount of memory they have. Seems that most 6200 cards had 128 and 7100gs had 256, but various vendors released cards with more or less memory to hit all the price points when they first went on sale.

Curious as to why your looking at these ancient cards?

me too, wouldn't put one in any new build personally and not even in 5+ year old pc.

here's another link with a direct comparison of both cards. :- http://www.game-deba...6200-turbocache

Hey Ripo66, no attacking here.  Just curiosity.  If those are the exact cards your friend gave you, my thoughts is that the nvidia 6200 would be more useful with the dvi output (for your monitor) and more memory.  If, however your going to game, it would depend largely on the game specific, mostly video ram recommendations.
