Done. (thanks for this one, really didn't know regedit would recognise if I manually typed 'Administrators'). Exported reg key to confirm it's correctly replaced. Restarted, installed latest driver, but still get half speed warning.

Can you give me another process monitor log where you try to install and get the speed warning?

I don't understand. When I plug sccanner in, I get the speed warning. You want a process monitor log of that again?

Today only, after that warning, I launched the driver update, unplugged the scanner then re-plugged the scanner in and saw the warning.

Do you want a process monitor log where I re-install the driver again from start to finish? At which point?

I know we have done it before but we have made changes so things may be different.  What I want to catch is the time from just before the warning and just until the warning appears.  I'm trying to see how it decides that to give you the warning.

Not finding much.  See changing

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Usb]
"LegacyCheckingEnabled"

to 0 (was 1)

Will stop the message.

Error message stopped, but the scanner still scans slower most of the time. The only difference now is that I don't see the message to warn me in advance that it will scan slower.

I realised PML was not saving All events by default, so reset the Legacy key to 1 then I did some PMLs that show the error for both the TableMike and the scanner, (also managed to do a pml for the scanner when there is no error, but I couldn't for the tablemike).

OK.  Thanks for the new PML logs.  Stopping the error message was all it was supposed to do.  Just wanted to make sure that it worked.  You can put it back to 1 if you like.

Haven't forgotten you.  Just been busy.

Can you attach:

C:\Windows\debug\WIA\wiatrace.log

Let's see if we can get USBLogView to work:

http://www.nirsoft.n...b_log_view.html

Click on

Download USBLogView

near the bottom of the page.

Save it then right click on it and Extract All, Extract.

Run it (right click and Run As Admin) then

Plug in a USB device.  If it works you should get some entries.  After you get the error, Edit, Select All then File Save Selected Items
