Hello,

Tell me what issues remain as far as Malware / adware. Any pop ups, redirects or anything like that.

Thanks
Joe :)

Hi Joe,

Hmm, nothing weird seems to be happening, however, I wasn't on my system all day yesterday - which is odd for me. I left the pc on overnight. Usually when I do that, the next day Google chrome doesn't respond; things lock up, and I usually have to restart to clear things up. Today, all seems okay so far. As far as popups, I've never had that. My daughter on the other hand being a teenager and downloading music like she did has virus's galore on her system. The popups were so bad that she switched from one browser to the next, and that seemed to quiet them down, but I'm going to read on this site how to fix that issue to - because any type of virus is a bad one.

I can't thank you enough for the many days of help. And I have no idea as to how much time on your end it took to look through this maze of information to find the culprit ;)   Thanks again so much! Is there another step(s) to go yet?

D

Hello,

Lets remove the tools we used and close the topic,

Download DelFix by Xplode and save it to your desktop.
  • Run the tool by right click on the 51a5ce45263de-delfix.png icon and Run as administrator option.
  • Make sure that these ones are checked:
    • Remove disinfection tools
    • Purge system restore
    • Reset system settings
  • Push Run.
  • The program will run for a few seconds and display a notepad report.
    Paste it for my review.
Thanks
Joe :)

Looks good,

A few pointers for you.

You usually get infected because your security settings are too low.

Here are a number of recommendations that will help tighten them, and which will contribute to making you a less likely victim:

Safe Computing Practices please read Here

Thanks

Hi Joe,

It sounds like we have finished with the detective work and I can assume that whatever the problem was, is not corrected? I read the link you provided above about safe computing practices. On that page (or maybe one that it points to) states that if the system we are using is running WIndows 7, we should be using Internet Explorer 11 - and there is a link to go to to download it. Is this correct? I've been running Chrome for years and use gmail. Should I stop using chrome and download the Explorer 11 program? Here is the page I am on:

http://securitygarde.../blog-page.html

Thank you again, more than I can say, for helping me for hours/days, using your own time, to get my computer back up and running!!

Hello,

It just means to keep your browsers always updated no matter what browser you use. You certainly don't have to use Internet Explorer 11. I would consider up dating it though so the up dated version is available to you should you need it at any time. Use any browser you want and always keep them up dated.
