Okay so my R3SL240G SSD, which does not have the OS on it, is not being recognized. It is relatively new, having purchased it only 2.5 months ago. I am trying to determine if it has straight up died or if it is something else. A few days ago there was a quick power outage that lasted like half a second. My PC was turned off but the PSU switch was in the on position.

 

When I turn on the computer with only the primary SSD (MZ-75E250B) plugged in, startup is rather quick. You see two ASUS startup displays and then the desktop appears. If both the primary and secondary SSDs are plugged in, there is a moment that lasts 10-15 secs where the screen is black following the second ASUS startup display. Then the desktop appears. Using crystaldisk, only the Samsung SSD shows up.

 

So far I have tried a different SATA cable and a different SATA port. No luck. I then tried power cycling the PC twice but this did not work. I used the following method: SATA cable removed with PC on for 30-60min. PC off with power removed for 30 sec. Reboot with plugs in.

 

Any thoughts on further actions that I can take to ascertain the problem and find a solution would be most helpful.

Wouldn't want to attempt anything that might void the warranty.

FWIW, I've been using CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS 1500VA 900W PFC Compatible Mini-Tower's on all of our electrical devices for quite some time. Work great.

I figured I might need a UPS with a higher wattage. I recall reading that it is ideal to have 50-75% above the typical wattage load of your PC.  APC has a tool selector which is suppose to help in determining the wattage or VA that you'll require but my processor isn't listed.

The Kill-A-Watt P3 P4400 - $18.93 can tell you how many watts (amps, etc.) your computer -- and/or anything else you plug into it -- requires.

I'll plug everything in the area that I want backed up by a UPS into a power-strip, plug the power-strip into the Kill-A-Watt, the Kill-A-Watt into a receptacle, then power everything up. The Kill-A-Watt then shows me how many watts are being pulled through it.
