Hi,

Download and try to install this driver for the chip set.

After this restart and execute the following:

» Minitoolbox log
Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.
Run the tool, check the following options:

  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Devices (Only Problems)

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply.

NOTE: I ran it from the Desktop so not sure if that was the problem........

Rebooted machine & saw no change.
Ran MiniToolBox.....came up with an error "Windows Smart Screen can't be reached right now" & was looking for internet....ran it anyway.

Hi,

Open Device Manager, right click Intel® HD Graphics click Properties, click on the Driver Tab then button Driver Details

Post a screenshot showing the driver details.

Try to force Windows to reinstall the driver, right click on Intel® HD Graphics and click Uninstall Device.

Right click on top of the Device tree on LAPTOP-FG... and click Scan for hardware changes.

Because the wireless connection isn't working can you connect the machine to the internet using a Ethernet cable?

With Internet access most likely Windows will try to reinstall the drivers for the devices with problems.

Hi SD,
Driver Details for Intel HDGraphics below:
Because there were quite A LOT of driver files I am trying to find a way to take snaps of them...the little box will not expand to show me a bigger group!
01JUN IntelHDGraphics Driver Details.jpg

Question: If I uninstall the graphics won't I then lose my display?!

I only have a 'dongle' type modem which has no LAN output....I am trying to see if there is a way to connect PC to PC via LAN to share web access......

Don't worry I only want to check if inside there is any indication of error and not the full list of drivers.

No Windows will use the basic video driver and most likely it will show an image with big icons because the video resolution will be 800x600 or something like that.

In that case is better to concentrate on the wireless card to see if you can access the internet.

From the Device Manager right click on all the devices with Wireless in the name one by one and select Uninstall.

Download the following driver https://downloadcent...-Windows-10?v=t and try to install

Should I be OK to copy the downloads to the Desktop, then do the installations from there?

Will the drivers try to install themselves in the correct folders on the machine?.....

Hi SD.....sorry but got sidetracked with elderly relative issues...........

Uninstalled all wireless named/related listings under Device Manager.

Downloaded the PROset64 WiFi application to the desktop & ran as Administrator........just kept getting the following error:

06JUN WiFi installation error.jpg

Tried reboots but still get the same error.....no changes in Device Manager with all wireless named/related listings being gone.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay. Something isn't right!

Do you have another user on the machine with Administrator access? If you do try to install the driver using the other user.

Another thing you can try open the folder c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\config\ and rename the machine.config file to machine.config.old and try to run the setup again. If it continue to fail with the same error restore file name.

SD,

On the Acer SSD folder it shows the following 'users':
- defaultuser0
- Doug
- Public

The user account I created (& checked in Control Panel, User Accounts) is called 'Sir!' & doesn't appear in the user folder.....I believe 'Doug' is the one I created on the old eMMC drive.
I checked Control Panel to see if it was possible to delete the Doug account but it is not listed......only in Explorer! According to everything I see 'Sir!' is the Administrator account but isn't listed in Explorer.........

I renamed the machine.config file to machine.config.old, & rebooted machine.
The setup appeared to run but kept asking if the program was working, check compatability settings, etc. I checked the connections available but still was only possible with ethernet. The setup then gave options for troubleshooting which I started along but the questions were more concerned with issues of screen size & resolution & nothing related to WiFi!. I eventually exited then checked Device Manager but no change........no WiFi.
Went back & renamed machine.config back to original name & ran the setup again....came back with the 'Error Parsing' message again.

Hi,

After creating the new account did you logon with that user? The folder under users containing the user profile is only created on first logon.

Please don't delete anything!

SD,

Nothing deleted......All Stop here!!   :D

If my memory serves me correctly......

- I do know that I renamed the machine from 'Doug' to 'Sir!'

- I do remember some issue a while back with this machine regarding administration rights so it is highly likely I have 'done something' in that area. :headscratch:

Hi,

Enable the default Administrator account that is hidden and disabled by default.

- Open the Command Prompt as Administrator (Tutorial)

- type or Copy & Paste the command:

Net user administrator /active:yes

Log-off and then logon with the Administrator account to see if you can run the installer.
