ad.yieldmanager.com results when trying to check Yahoo mail?
Many Yahoo Mail users report been getting a Google search results page that continuously pops up when trying to check their Yahoomail. The page title contains http://ad.yieldmanager.com/st?..
Since the first result on the search page is often for a topic in the malware removal forum of this site, some people even think we’re somehow responsible. While we’re not yet sure why these users are being redirected, we can tell you how to fix it.
- Download Trend Micro’s HijackThis
- Close your browser and Install HijackThis
- Open HijackThis, Select Do a system scan only button
- In the results, find this line:
O2 - BHO: Browser Address Error Redirector - {CA6319C0-31B7-401E-A518-A07C3DB8F777} - c:\windows\system32\BAE.dll
- Tick the checkbox next to that line, and select the Fix Checked button (DO NOT select any other lines without assistance).
- Restart your browser and navigate to Yahoomail. You should now be able to access it.
UPDATE: Thanks to Chris’ comment, it seems a number of people may be having this problem after Spybot Search & Destroy modifies their hosts file after using the “immunize” feature. Since editing your hosts file can be tricky for some, here’s an easy method to restore your hosts file:
Please download HostsXpert
- Unzip HostsXpert.zip
- Double click on HostsXpert.exe
- Then click on “Restore Original Hosts” to restore your Hosts file to its default condition.
- Click on Make Hosts Read Only to secure it against further changes.
- Close program when complete.
If you have any questions, or need further assistance, please read our malware cleaning guide.

I have had to tolerate the well, I am going to call it a "worm" since I followed the directions on Geeks "frontpage" on how to remove the ad.yieldmanager.com irritatating redirect nonsense. I followed the directions to a t and thought it was working. I am an avid canasta player on Yahoo and was disgusted to be "kicked off" or redirected to this yieldmanager page to the point that I could no longer play. I was kinda desperate so I used the HJT and Permanently deleted this (O2 - BHO: Browser Address Error Redirector - {CA6319C0-31B7-401E-A518-A07C3DB8F777} - c:\windows\system32\BAE.dll) from my computer hoping I would never need it again.
Well, I played a few games and the good ole ad.yieldmanager.com was as busy as a bee working at the bottom trying to redirect me to that darn page, but I guess it kept "timing out". After about 45 minutes, WHAM-BAM, I found myself on that %@$& page and out of my game!!!
Frustrated and mad as heck!
You would think Yahoo could do something about this since it wreaks havoc on their "customers". We need a petition or something or a good way to contact Yahoo and ask for their help. Any suggestions?
P.S.
I didn't understand the gist of this comment from your directions above.....some people even think we’re somehow responsible......why would anyone think Geeks would be responsible.

I also get Yieldmanager when I use the 'back' button to return to Yahoo. I installed HiJackThis, followed your instructions, and the file noted does not appear in list of files that can be 'fixed.' This started happening when Yahoo put up their "new" my.yahoo format... Neither AVG nor spybot, nor add/remove can find anything which leads me to believe it is inherent in the new yahoo format...

I've been trying to eliminate Yield Manager forever. Tried just about everything and solicited advice from practically everywhere. I tried HijackThis and thought it would just be another scam to buy spyware/malware software. Guess what, it isn't.
If you follow the instructions perfectly, this actually works. Unbelievable - at last the annoying Yield Manager is gone and I am able to access my Yahoo email. I don't know for how long, but it fixed it for now. Thanks for the help. I sincerely appreciate it. Keep up the great work!

I've been fighting this thing for weeks. Btw, No help from Yahoo, just sympathetic messages. I've found no traces of this thing in my registry, tried all the tricks, keeps coming back but; only with Yahoo pages.
I've now moved over to MSN, bye Yahoo!

After following your instructions I am no longer redirected by ad.yieldmanager.com within yahoo email, but now I get a message saying "the current web page is trying to open a site in your trusted sites list. Do you want to allow this? The current page is http//ad.yieldmanager.com. Of course I enter "no," but it keeps happening on every interaction within Yahoo email.
How do get rid of this?
Thank you.
Pat

The line in HJThis is the same as you suggested after the word Redirector. I was wondering if this line is the same that can be checked to fix.
I want that ad.yieldmanager out so bad.
- BHO: CBrowserHelperObject Object - {CA6319C0-31B7-401E-A518-A07C3DB8F777} - C:\Program Files\BAE\BAE.dll

Yes, that is a variation that should be removed as well.

Thanks so much for the correct advice to remove
ad.yieldmanager. It has been fine for the second day so I hope it stays.
I tried other programs to no avail and some programs
such as SpyHunter add Malware' My Spy-Bot toldme not to install this program because of a Trojan so I cancelled it and it still rebooted my PC and installed. I had to uninstall it and then found Malware which I had to get rid of.
There are a lot of scum out there.
Thanks again for the straight forward honest fix.

No luck here with any of the available tools, I don't get the redirect any longer but, I still get one to two ad.yieldmanager links in my browser back button.
So; I still have a yahoo news page, I don't use yahoo mail any longer.

The ONLY place this ad.yield.manager ever pops up, is at Yahoo.
I find it laughable that yahoo responds with 'sympathetic messages' when clearly they know exactly what it is.
Again - the ONLY place this thing ever pops up - is AT YAHOO.

Hmmm, suddenly ad.yeildmanager has disappeared from Yahoo. I've clicked dozens of links and even went back to check my old Yahoo mail account. Nothing there and I've done NOTHING recently to get rid of it. Do you think those morons at Yahoo FINALLY got the message??? We will see if it stays that way.

Yield Manager is owned by Yahoo. Yahoo owns the entire company, that is why if one has Yahoo, one gets Yield Manager and it happens to me as soon as I go to check my email.
Normally, after checking email, I delete all the cookies using the internet options and raise my raise my "privacy" to 'high' blocking all cookies. But to check email again, it gives me Yield Manager.

Let me guess most of you bought dell's or gateway's... it has been a common practice to install Browser Error Redirectors for the ad revenue it generates... if your lucky it is in the "programs and features" list to remove it off a vista machine. But the above removes it as well.

Same problem just started for me and my wife. We have a new desktop running Vista and a very old one running Windows 98. Happens with either one. I think that this has to be a problem on Yahoo's end.
By the way, AngryRaisin, they are both "emachines".

P.S. It only happens when accessing e-mail and hasn't been a problem, as yet, for our notebook.

OMG- I always think i'm the only one having the problem, and low and behold.......
I consistantly see it on Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Answers. In fact, on Yahoo Answers, i'm lucky enough to get it twice back to back. I don't even know if you're suppose to click "yes" or "no". I just want it to go far far far away.
C'mon.... there's gotta be some awesome techie guy that can conquer this! We all have faith in you!

Sadly it didn't work for me. I followed directions and went to one of my "trigger" websites (walmart) and on loading the main page it was fine, but then when i clicked in once to the next page it went to the ad yield manager thing.... I really had high hopes that would work! We've been dealing with this on our computer since July 08....not. fun.

This is only preliminary...........
The problem may lie in the hosts file generated by spybot search and destroy. This morning I deleted all the host files generated by SBSD and renamed the oldest system file back to hosts. Since then I've had no more redirects by ad.yieldmanager even in Yahoo mail.
Is everyone else with this issue using Spybot Search and Destroy?

thank you so much. i have wasted more time on these pop-ups and this finally worked. i was getting it in both ie and ff in yahoo mail and it was a login pop up for ad.yeildmanager everytime it tried to change the ad on the right pane. i'm thrilled that it is gone.

I quit using Yahoo due to this issue, then it started on some other sites. No issues at all after removing the Spybot Search and Destroy generated hosts file. I'm even using Yahoo again.
Your welcome!
Be advised though, when you immunize with SPSD the problem will more than likely return.....
annegt said,
Wrote on December 19, 2008 @ 1:24 pm
Right again Chris, it came back after immunize. You are clever! I deleted only the ad.yieldmanager entry from the sbsd hosts file and voila, gone again. So I guess I'll just do that if and when it comes back.
Thanks again.

Well, I see I am not alone. I just came onboard per the Geek repair recommendation to download Hijack and found everyone else is having the same problem. I am so tired of this thing interfering with my computer work. I have been bumped off of so many things d/t being redircted. However, yesterday when I got bumped out of a $10 survey that was near completion, I had reached my limit and figured I might as well go through the process and get rid of it. Now after several comments from everyone I'm not sure what to do. Does anyone have or did anyone find a real solution to be rid of it yet?

I'm having the same kind of problem when I try to navigate on Ebay. I can see about 2 pages and then Im directed to a page that says" can't find ad.yieldmanager" plus something else. Will the same procedure work for me?

I finally found my 8/25 response from Yahoo.
They advised that when the popup comes up, just hit CTRL and W and that should remove it.
